A Court of Thorns and Roses Recap (Book 1)

Nineteen-year-old Feyre Archeron is keeping her poor human family alive by hunting. She kills a huge wolf in the woods, which turns out to be a faerie, and a beast arrives demanding a life for a life. She’s taken across the Wall into Prythian, to the Spring Court.
Her captor is Tamlin, High Lord of the Spring Court, cursed along with his court (including his emissary Lucien) to wear masks. A blight is draining the magic from Prythian. Feyre slowly falls for Tamlin, and he sends her home to keep her safe.
The truth: Amarantha, a commander from Hybern, has ruled Prythian from Under the Mountain for nearly 50 years. Feyre goes after Tamlin and makes a deal with her: complete three trials or solve a riddle and everyone goes free.
Under the Mountain, Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court, heals her broken arm in exchange for a bargain: one week a month with him. She beats the Middengard Wyrm, the first trial, and finally stabs two innocent faeries in the third. She solves the riddle (the answer is love), Amarantha kills her, and the seven High Lords bring her back as High Fae.
A Court of Mist and Fury Recap (Book 2)

Feyre is home in the Spring Court but drowning in trauma. Tamlin gets more controlling, then locks her inside the manor. Rhys’s bargain pulls her away on her wedding day, and later Mor rescues her outright.
In the Night Court, she learns Rhys’s public cruelty was a cover. He protected Velaris, the hidden City of Starlight, and his Inner Circle: Cassian, Azriel, Mor, and Amren. Feyre discovers she has gifts from all seven High Lords.
The plot: the King of Hybern wants the Cauldron to break the Wall. Feyre helps hunt the two halves of the Book of Breathings, visiting the Weaver, the Bone Carver, and the Summer Court along the way.
Feyre and Rhys realize they are mates, and she becomes High Lady of the Night Court. In Hybern, the King throws Nesta and Elain into the Cauldron, turning them into High Fae. Lucien feels the mating bond with Elain. Feyre fakes being freed from Rhys and goes back to the Spring Court as a spy.
A Court of Wings and Ruin Recap (Book 3)

Feyre quietly turns the Spring Court against Tamlin, exposes Tamlin’s ties to Hybern, and escapes back to the Night Court with Lucien.
The High Lords meet to form an alliance. Feyre realizes Lucien’s real father is Helion of the Day Court, and Mor tells Feyre a secret she’s kept for centuries.
Nesta and Elain have new Cauldron-made gifts: Elain has visions, and Nesta took something from the Cauldron. Amren breaks out of her body to fight. Feyre brings in Miryam and Drakon’s armies, and frees Bryaxis to fight for them.
In the final battle, Feyre’s father dies, Elain stabs the King of Hybern first and Nesta finishes him (beheads him), and Rhys dies. Every High Lord, including Tamlin, gives him a spark of power to bring him back. Amren returns as High Fae. Lucien leaves to help Vassa, the human queen cursed by Koschei.

A Court of Frost and Starlight Recap (Book 4)

A short, cozy bridge set at the Winter Solstice after the war. Velaris is rebuilding, Feyre opens an art studio, and she and Rhys talk about having a family.
Not everyone is okay. Nesta is drinking and isolating, and pushing everyone away. Cassian still can’t stay away from her. Tamlin is a wreck in the Spring Court, and the Inner Circle starts to argue about how to handle the human lands.
It ends with the Inner Circle worried about Nesta, setting up the intervention that opens book 5.
A Court of Silver Flames Recap (Book 5)

Nesta is moved into the House of Wind to train with Cassian and work in the library. She befriends Gwyn, a priestess, and Emerie, an Illyrian shop owner, and the three start training as the new Valkyries.
Nesta and Cassian fall for each other, and she slowly heals. The women compete in the brutal Illyrian Blood Rite.
The threat: Briallyn, a human queen, is working with Koschei and hunting the Dread Trove: the Mask, the Harp, and the Crown. Nesta uses Cauldron-made power and objects to get them first.
Feyre is pregnant with a winged baby, and the birth nearly kills her. Nesta gives up her Cauldron powers to save Feyre and her son, Nyx. Nesta and Cassian accept the mating bond. In the bonus chapter, Azriel’s feelings about Elain and Gwyn come to the surface.
Unresolved Threads and Setups for A Court of Splintered Harmony
Bloomsbury’s official description says Koschei the Deathless is stirring from the lake he’s been bound to for millennia, and the Night Court is “reeling from recent betrayals and revealed truths.” Here’s what that could connect to (these are open threads, not spoilers):
- Koschei: bound to a lake on the continent, he cursed Vassa and backed Briallyn. He’s officially the villain of book 6.
- The human lands: with the Wall gone, the official blurb says Koschei’s allies want to reclaim them.
- Elain, Lucien and Azriel: Elain is Lucien’s mate but doesn’t want the bond, and Azriel’s feelings are out in the open after the ACOSF bonus chapter.
- Eris and the Autumn Court: Eris wants to overthrow his father, Beron, with the Night Court’s help.
- Tamlin: still alone in the Spring Court after giving Rhys a spark of his power.
- The Valkyries: Nesta, Gwyn and Emerie are a new fighting force, and this arc is literally called The Valkyrie Cycle.
- Vassa and Jurian: still living with Lucien in the human lands, with Vassa still under Koschei’s curse.
- The Maasverse: Bryce Quinlan from Crescent City visited Prythian, so worlds may keep crossing over.
